This Week's Picks - Lack of Color, BB Dakota

Lack of Color

So many of you have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our spring shipment from Lack of Color, and I’m happy to announce that not only has it arrived, but it has arrived in major style!!! I am basically obsessed with every single hat we received and would be more than willing to take one of each,  if only I had an endless supply of money…SIGH…a girl can dream though right?!? Now I must say that we have only had these new arrivals in stock for a week, and they are already starting to sell out in some of the styles, so if you are in the market for a new stylish and on trend hat, the time to buy is now! LOL… ok, well that kind of sounded like I’m trying to sell you all a house, but all humour aside Lack of Color hats are the bomb dot com and trust me when I say once you buy one, you will definitely be back for more!

***Oh, and if you aren’t currently familiar with this brand, Lack of Color is based out of Australia, and Miss Boss is the exclusive retailer for the Edmonton area! ***

First up is my personal favourite the “Zulu” which retails for $110 and is made of 100% Australian wool! The brim measures 8 cm / 3.15” and is only available in size 57, as the 55 has already sold out. This hat is so gorgeous and the perfect spring/ summer staple.

If you have any tropical holidays planned, or maybe a trip to the Okanogan then you are going to NEED this next hat, because it has vacation style written all over it. The “Straw Violette Boater”-$115 would make the perfect wine tour or  beach day look paired with a sun dress and either wedge espadrilles or a pair of flip flops depending on the occasion. This hat is made of 100% wheat straw, and trimmed with a black ribbon for that extra added detail.

The “Jethro Black” is your classic fedora, easy to wear, goes with everything kind of hat! This beauty is made of 100% soft Australian Wool and retails for $110. I always love a good black hat, because it can be worn year round and it goes with basically everything so you don’t need to worry about matching your outfits to your hat!

This “Sierra Boater”-$132 is a super chic, wide brimmed hat in a beautiful creamy beige colour, and is trimmed with a gold vintage patterned ribbon that is sure to make a statement. Keep in mind this particular style does run ½ to 1 size smaller if you are ordering online! While we are on the topic of hats that make a statement, the stiffened wool fedora that was inspired by vintage men’s styles is another must have in my opinion. I love that it has a slight western and masculine feel while still being feminine in the beautiful ivory colour. The “Ivory Rancher” retails for $140, and we only have size 57’ left in stock.

BB Dakota

Now that we are all dreaming of gorgeous hats, I figured I would switch gears and talk about some of the super cute new arrivals that we received from BB Dakota. I’m sure I have mentioned this a time or two before, but I love me some good Chambray pieces for spring and summer time! I love how soft and light weight the material is and it looks amazing paired with white!

Luckily for us, we received two pieces in chambray that are both equally as drool worthy and can be styled together or separate! The “On The Go” jacket retails for $145 and features a front zipper closure, side pockets, and a drawstring neckline and hem. I would pair this jacket with an all-white outfit, either white denim and a tank, or a white/off white sundress, and then finish the look off with a nude espadrille style wedge and a straw bag!

If you are into wearing matching sets then I think the “On The Go” jacket would look super chic paired with the “Nice & Easy ” high waisted shorts-$99. Like I mentioned earlier, I am really into pairing chambray coloured pieces with white, so I think it would be fun to stick with that theme and complete this look with a pair of white sneakers and a white baseball cap! If you wanted to just rock the “Nice & Easy Shorts” without the jacket, I would pair it with a silky white cami, white ankle boots, and the linen tote bag in white by Christopher Kon (available in store only).

OK, so much YASSSS to this next item!!! This is the time of year when temperatures start to change drastically throughout the day, so layering is key! I think everyone needs at least one Trench coat in their wardrobe, but you definitely can’t go wrong with having more than one in a variety of colours! The “Trench Kiss” retails for just $180 and is a beautiful dusty rose colour! Dress this jacket up and wear it to work, or pair it with denim and a tee shirt for a more casual look. Another great transition piece moving into spring is the “In Great Drape”- $160 faux suede jacket. Let’s face it… every single person has a different unique shape and size, and knowing what lengths of jackets work best for your body is important. I love that we always receive a variety when it comes to coats and this “In Great Drape” jacket is a perfect alternative if you love the dusty rose colour in the trench coat, but prefer a shorter jacket.

Speaking of things you can never have enough of…this “City Proper Blouse” in white is absolutely gorgeous and retails for $95. This blouse features delicate lace detail around the shoulders and neck, giving it a very feminine feel! Pair this top with paper bag dress pants, a blazer, and your favourite pumps for the ultimate work day look.

Last but not least the “Stripe I Like Skirt” is the perfect weekend look. This easy to wear, light weight striped skirt features front buttons, tie waist, and retails for $128. I personally love this skirt paired down with a basic white Z Supply tee, and a pair of the Malvados sandals.
