This Week's Picks - L*Space, J Brand, Rebecca King
Welcome to the FIRST official blog post of 2019!!
After some much needed R&R following the holiday festivities, we are geared up and ready to hit the ground running. There are so many amazing new arrivals in store since our last post, but before I get into that, I wanted to remind you all that you still have time to take advantage of our huge clearance sale!!! There are markdowns up to 70% off and items are being added to the sale daily, BUT you only have until January 31st so hurry in so you don’t miss out!
Now I know in our last post leading up to Christmas we hinted at the idea of winter getaways, and now that the holidays are over it seems that everyone is on the hunt for warmer weather pieces. I am willing to bet that this can be a bit of a scavenger hunt, and at times just a little stressful, since we Edmontonians are smack dab in the middle of the Antarctica…SERIOUSLY!!! In all seriousness though, January is typically not the easiest time to find vacation attire in Edmonton, which is why we are super excited about all the new arrivals from L*Space
When it comes to swimwear I am SO PICKY!! It took me a long time to realize that investing in a good quality bathing suit can be a game changer when it comes to how you look and feel. I like to think of it the same way I would when I’m investing in good quality shoes, or denim. Bottom line is, you want it to stand the test of time while being comfortable and stylish. Sure, most bikinis or one pieces initially catch your eye based on how they look on the hanger, but what I love about L*Space is how they are designed to fit multiple body shapes and accentuate you in all the right places.
First up is my all-time favourite the “Dakota One Piece”-$220. I personally own this exact swimsuit in black and it still looks brand new after multiple vacations and trips to the hot tub. I am seriously struggling not to purchase it in cream! I love the ribbed material, which by the way is double lined…MAJOR BONUS, and the bronze and reef coloured trim really make this piece pop! If you are not daring enough to wear cream, but you love the ribbed one piece look, then I highly recommend checking out our other new arrival the “High & Mighty”- $235! This one piece is available in the colour reef, and features adjustable crisscross straps, a deep v-neckline, lace-up sides with gold grommet detail, and the most flattering high-leg silhouette! I have to say, when it comes to one pieces, the higher the cut is on your thigh the longer your legs look…and who doesn’t want their legs to look longer!!!
Now for all you bikini lovers out there, these next two are for you!!! I’m not huge on two pieces, but these have me thinking twice, because they are absolutely gorgeous. Another bonus is that they are sold as separates, so if you like to mix and match, or are only on the hunt for a bottom or a top then you have the option to do that as well.
The “Tara Top”-$130, is great if you need a little more support, and the racer back allows you to do all those fun vacation activities such as beach volleyball without having to worry about showing off more than just your sick volleyball skills… LOL. All jokes aside this gorgeous top is available in the colour reef, and does have matching “Veronica bottoms” for $103.
I have to admit that I did leave the best for last…or so it seems to be, since we only have 2 left!!! This bikini is the prettiest colour combination and has reversible matching bottoms….basically you get two different looks from the same swimsuit. In my case I will take any tips and tricks for getting that suitcase to one day not get the “heavy” sticker at the airport…***EMBARASSING!! Now I know packing one less bathing suit probably won’t get me there, but hey its one step closer!
The “Camellia Top”- $143, is not only extremely pretty to look at, but it has maximum coverage and support with fully adjustable straps and a demi-cup underwire! Holla to a bikini that actually has support! The “Sandy Bottom”-$97 is a hipster fit and seamless construction.
I have to say I’m really feeling this first blog (post vaca), because I don’t know if you can tell but I really LOVE talking about swimwear!!! But wait… next up is denim and I LOVE LOVE denim!!! If you know me, then you know that I basically live in denim. Rewind a few years ago and I honestly did not understand those people who would wear denim and “pretend” that they were comfortable, that is until I discovered premium denim! Fast forward to the present and I can now say with confidence that those people were in fact not pretending at all, I was just wearing the wrong type of jeans! One of my favourite things about premium denim, besides the obvious fact that it’s actually comfortable, is that you can so easily dress them up and dress them down. One of my favourite looks is pairing denim with a top of your choice (silky tank, basic tee, band tee, blouse, crop top), and then simply adding a blazer on top to totally elevate the look!
I have purchased many different brands of denim over the past few years and one of my favourites is definitely J Brand. We recently received 3 new styles and they are all VERY different from one another. I think this season we are going to see a big change in the styles of denim, and I’m pretty excited about it! Don’t worry, skinny jeans will still be around, but you have probably already started to see a change with wider legs, flares, boot cuts, colours, and exposed buttons… and I’m most definitely not mad about it!
The “Selena Mid Rise Crop Boot”-$338 is going to be a staple in your wardrobe for 2019. This cut is so flattering!! It’s all business in the front and party in the back with the finished hem on one side and the frayed unfinished hem on the other. These are the perfect blue for spring with the right amount of stretch and a mid-rise fit.
This new exposed button trend can be found on the “Lillie High Rise Crop”- $310. With a 27 inch inseam, these black skinny jeans will have your legs looking miles long…YES PLEASE!! Also with all the cropped sweaters out this spring, try pairing them with high-rise denim. You will be surprised by how much more flattering the sweater becomes. My favourite thing to do is give your sweater a little tuck into the front of your denim…it totally changes the look!
Cropped…Cigarette…High-rise, need I say more??? The “Kyra High Rise Pant”- $375 features exposed buttons, and comes in an olive colour. These beauties are available both in store and online!
I honestly think I say the same thing every time I write about Rebecca King, but seriously this woman creates the most beautiful, classic, and timeless pieces! We all know and love the 3-way sweater and the techno suit jacket, but her newest addition is this stunning “Wool Vest”-$220 available in grey and wine. These are such a great wardrobe staple, especially if 90% off your clothes are black, because it’s an easy way to add that pop of colour and really change your overall look! A great go-to work look would be a black fitted turtleneck, black cropped cigarette style dress pants, a black pump, and then either the grey or the wine coloured wool vest. Try adding a scarf, statement earrings, or a stack of your fav bracelets to finish off the style!
